Cara Nixon is a licensed clinical psychologist providing psychotherapy to patients at Alleviant Health Center of Naples.
She graduated from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and moved to Florida to complete her internship at Park Place Behavioral Health in Kissimmee. After completing her residency at Blue Horizon Eating Disorder Treatment in Winter Park she relocated to Southwest Florida. She has been in private practice since 2014 and completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) in 2016.
As a family member of first responders, this population has a special place in her heart. Dr. Nixon believes in the importance of helping people who help people. Her specialty in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) enables her to provide comprehensive care to not only first responders but anyone seeking treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
In addition to first responders, Dr. Nixon also has extensive experience working with those struggling with an eating disorder. Her residency and years in private practice have brought unparalleled care to southwest Florida for those seeking recovery from an eating disorder and related traumas.
“I’m excited to be a part of the Alleviant family,” says Dr. Nixon. “Being able to work in conjunction with patients going through ketamine infusion therapy is something I’m eager to be involved in.”
Outside of the office, Dr. Nixon enjoys spending time outdoors, yoga, and watching Friends. She is also dedicated to local animal rescue and has one rescue cat of her own.
