Chris earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies and Chemistry from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska in 1999 and then his B.S. in Nursing at Regis University in Denver in 2008. He attended Texas Wesleyan University in Ft. Worth, Texas, and completed his M.S.N.A. in 2013.
He began his career as a Quality Associate at Amgen, Inc. in Longmont, Colorado where he performed assigned assay methods for in-product, lot release, stability, and product development samples. He was responsible for recording and interpreting data in Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) while maintaining compliance and assuring accuracy and consistency.
Chris then joined Denver Health – MICU in Denver as a critical care nurse where he assessed patients in critical care condition, administering rescue drugs snd vasoactive medication. He administered proper doses to aid patients for ventilation, interventions, and alcohol withdrawal. His scope of work also included resuscitation of unstable patients and the close monitoring of vital signs and lab values.
“It was critical to foster interdisciplinary communication to provide safe and effective patient care,” Chris said.
In 2014, Chris became a CRNA instructor The Children’s Hospital of Colorado, and worked in an anesthesia care team setting. He maintained anesthesia equipment for planned and emergent surgeries, conducted preoperative patient exams, prepared anesthetic plans, secured vascular access, and performed monitoring, neuraxial, and peripheral blocks.
Chris maintained his BLS/ACLS/PALS certification, was a member of the infection control committee and assisted in the creation of a professional development guideline for anesthetists.
He also serves as president-elect of the Colorado Association of Nurse Anesthetists and volunteers for Healing the Children Rocky Mountains each year on a pediatric mission to Lima, Peru.
