Karen G. Canulla, MD, is a holistic psychiatrist passionate about helping patients overcome mental health conditions, eating disorders, and addictions.

Dr. Canulla earned her bachelor’s degree from Hendrix University before securing her MD at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She then traveled to Phoenix, AZ, to complete a residency program at Maricopa Medical Center. She is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

While in Arizona, Dr. Canulla gained experience in a wide variety of settings. She is a member of the American Society of Addiction Medicine and has done extensive therapy with people with addictions, including Suboxone treatments. Dr. Canulla is well-versed in treating a variety of diseases with ketamine therapy, having served as the Medical Director of a Ketamine Infusion Center in Phoenix. She also began a private practice in Phoenix in 2015 and continues to see her private practice patients via telemedicine.

Her interest in holistic psychiatry led her to work with the American Academy of Anti-aging, WorldLink Medical, and Dr. Neil Rouzier for years, learning to administer hormone replacement therapy as a non-pharmacological approach to treating mental illness.

Dr. Canulla joined staff with Alleviant full-time in the summer of 2019 after moving back to Arkansas to be close to family. She is thrilled to offer her expertise in ketamine and her holistic services with Alleviant patients.
