Joshua Branham, MSN, PMHNP-BC, APRN, RN, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner serving patients at Alleviant.

in Fort Smith. With nearly two decades of healthcare experience spanning psychiatric care, bedside nursing, and nursing education, Joshua brings a compassionate, patient-centered approach to mental health treatment.

Joshua earned his Master of Science in Nursing – Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University in 2025. He also holds a Master of Science in Nursing Education from Northeastern State University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oklahoma Wesleyan University.

Before joining Alleviant in May 2025, Joshua worked in a variety of healthcare settings, including psychiatric nursing, medical-surgical care, long-term acute care, and nursing education. He spent 10 years teaching practical and registered nursing students and previously worked with Grand Mental Health as a nurse practitioner. His diverse background allows him to connect with patients from all walks of life while providing thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care.

Joshua was drawn to mental health early in his career through his experiences working on geriatric psychiatric units and later in inpatient psychiatric settings. He believes effective mental health treatment extends beyond medication management and should also address lifestyle, environment, nutrition, exercise, light exposure, and meaningful human connection.

Known by patients and colleagues as friendly, caring, and witty, Joshua values building genuine relationships with those he serves. He finds the most rewarding part of his work is seeing patients experience positive outcomes and improved quality of life.

Outside of work, Joshua enjoys spending time with family, friends, and his two dogs, Tuck and Toby, as well as reading and traveling both within and outside the United States. A fun fact about Joshua: he contributed to the development of NCLEX Next Generation licensing exam questions for LPNs.
