Schizophrenia
Grounded Care. Innovative Tools. Hope for Every Mind.
What Is Schizophrenia?
Schizophrenia is a serious and complex mental health condition that affects how a person thinks, feels, and perceives reality. It often involves symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking, and changes in motivation or functioning. Schizophrenia can feel frightening and isolating, but with the right support and treatment, stability and a fulfilling life are possible.
At Alleviant Integrated Mental Health, we use advanced neuroscience tools, compassionate psychiatric care, and whole-person support to help individuals with schizophrenia or related psychotic disorders find clarity, consistency, and confidence again.
Common Signs and Symptoms of Schizophrenia
Symptoms typically begin in late adolescence or early adulthood and may include:
Hallucinations – Seeing or hearing things that aren’t there
Delusions – Strong beliefs that are false or irrational (e.g., paranoia, grandiosity)
Disorganized thinking or speech – Difficulty following conversations or expressing thoughts
Flat or blunted affect – Limited emotional expression
Social withdrawal or isolation
Cognitive symptoms – Trouble with attention, memory, or decision-making
Lack of motivation or difficulty with daily functioning
Schizophrenia is not caused by personal weakness or moral failing. It is a neurobiological condition that requires medical and psychological care. Early diagnosis and ongoing support can significantly improve outcomes.
Our Integrative, Brain-Based Approach
At Alleviant, we go beyond symptom management. We use Objective Psychiatry to understand how schizophrenia is affecting your brain and nervous system, and create a care plan that brings structure, healing, and hope.
Your personalized treatment plan may include:
Comprehensive Psychiatry (In-Person or Telehealth)
Our psychiatry services provide thoughtful evaluation and personalized treatment to support emotional stability, improve daily functioning, and promote long-term mental wellness.
Medication Management
Antipsychotic medications are often essential for reducing hallucinations, delusions, and thought disturbances. Our psychiatric providers work closely with patients and families to find the right balance, tailored with pharmacogenetic testing when appropriate to reduce side effects and improve results.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)
Although traditional TMS is not FDA-approved for schizophrenia, our NeuroSync®-guided PrTMS® offers a personalized brain stimulation protocol aimed at optimizing neural function, potentially improving negative symptoms (like lack of motivation or emotional flattening) and cognitive clarity.
Therapy (In-Person or Telehealth)
Therapy helps build coping skills, manage emotions, reduce relapse risk, and improve functioning. Our team provides supportive psychotherapy and education tailored to the individual’s stage of recovery.
Spectral EEG (sEEG)
A non-invasive brain scan that helps visualize dysregulated brain activity, cognitive processing issues, and neural connectivity challenges by providing insight into how schizophrenia is impacting the brain.
Health Coaching (Telehealth)
Nutrition, sleep, inflammation, and overall physical health can greatly impact symptom severity and medication side effects. Our integrative health coaches help support the body to stabilize the mind.
