What Is Schizophrenia?

Schizophrenia is a serious and complex mental health condition that affects how a person thinks, feels, and perceives reality. Common Signs and Symptoms of Schizophrenia

Symptoms typically begin in late adolescence or early adulthood and may include:

  • Delusions – Strong beliefs that are false or irrational (e.g., paranoia, grandiosity)

  • Disorganized thinking or speech – Difficulty following conversations or expressing thoughts

  • Flat or blunted affect – Limited emotional expression

  • Social withdrawal or isolation

  • Cognitive symptoms – Trouble with attention, memory, or decision-making

  • Lack of motivation or difficulty with daily functioning
