Thomas Cunningham, MSN, APRN, PMHNP

Thomas Cunningham is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Alleviant’s Rogers location, where he sees children, adolescent, and adult patients.

In mental health for more than 30 years, he holds a Master of Science in nursing from the University of South Alabama and a Bachelor of Science in management and ethics from Mid-America Bible College.

Before coming to Alleviant, he worked as a PMHNP at Vantage Point in Fayetteville and numerous mental health positions in his hometown, Enid, Okla.

Thomas joined Alleviant because he shares in the company philosophy that we should assist patients in a journey toward wellness through a holistic and evidence-based plan of care and not only managing symptoms of illness.

“I have been working exclusively in hospital settings for the past 8 years and have missed working in outpatient clinics where you continue to see patients over a longer period of time and can work toward wellness as opposed to simply stabilization,” he said.

“Interacting with patients and helping them live happier and healthier lives is the most enjoyable part of my job. It is exciting when a patient achieves their treatment goals and can live a full and rewarding life without being limited by mental illness.”

Thomas is married, has three sons, a daughter, and a stepdaughter, as well as a black and white Shih Tzu named Sgt. Pepper.

Outside of work, he enjoys playing guitar, traveling, camping, and working on cars.
