Aaron Cox, APRN, PMHNP
Aaron Cox is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at Alleviant’s Bentonville location. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Missouri Southern State University and Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University. He has been a psychiatric nurse practitioner since 2021 and has experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings in the northwest Arkansas area.
“When I entered the nursing field, I found that many individuals can be physically healthy but still struggle with their mental health,” Aaron said. “I chose a career in mental health care to make a positive impact on the overall wellness of individuals, including physical, mental, and spiritual needs. Seeing clients improve their mental health and become the best version of themselves is an amazing experience.”
Aaron said he chose to work at Alleviant because of the company’s holistic approach to providing mental health care, as well as using the latest innovative treatment modalities.
“That really makes Alleviant stand out as a leading provider of psychiatric care,” he said.
Aaron said the most enjoyable part of his job is connecting with individuals and having them take an active role in their treatment plan. Most challenging, he said, is seeing patients that have struggled with their mental health for a significant amount of time without treatment.
“The stigma surrounding seeking mental health care is lessening but still can be problematic to navigate at times.”
Known for being a great listener as well as his integrity and honesty, Aaron said his patients appreciate his calm demeanor and straightforward approach.
A native of Aurora, MO, Aaron lived in southwest Missouri for most of his life until moving to northwest Arkansas in 2017.
Aaron and his wife, Emma, have a beautiful little girl named Ava, and two pups, Noah, an English Cream Golden Retriever, and Hazel, a Sable Rough Collie.
“My wife and I have always enjoyed the nature of NWA and decided to move here to start our careers and start a family.”
Away from work, Aaron enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, traveling, fishing, wood working, and going on adventures with his dogs.
