S. Tyler Bayles, MD
Dr. S. Tyler Bayles is a psychiatrist at Alleviant Integrated Health’s Little Rock location. Dr. Bayles holds a Bachelor of Science and Medical Degree from the University of Arizona and completed his residency in both adult and child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Upon starting his career after his fellowship, he chose to stay in the Natural State.
“While in medical school we had a great team of professors that taught the behavioral sciences,” he said. “I really enjoyed that training and felt like I was good at it. I then spent a year of medical school being mentored by a community psychiatrist which helped my passion grow. I also had family members that struggled with anxiety and depression and saw firsthand the challenges they faced.”
Dr. Bayles came to Alleviant after successful tenures at Conway Behavioral Health, Youth Home, Bridgeway Hospital, and Life Strategies.
He chose Alleviant because it “goes the extra mile and takes a holistic approach,” he said. “They also offer cutting edge treatments such as TMS and Ketamine infusions.”
Dr. Bayles said the most enjoyable part of his job is meeting people, developing a strong bond with patients, and helping them and seeing them improve.
“It’s a huge reward and professionally satisfying.”
Known as thoughtful and generous, he says his biggest challenge is motivating people to make positive changes in their lives.
Dr. Bayles grew up in Tucson, AZ, and spent six years living just off the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. He is married to a Little Rock native, Sue, an aesthetician. The couple has no children, but three spoiled dogs – Ellie, Lil’ Smokie, and Scruff.
Away from work, Dr. Bayles is a music enthusiast and collector and sailor.
“My main weekend activity is sailing,” he said. “I am a member of the Grande Maumelle Sailing Club, and we sail year round with races every other weekend. It’s a really incredible club and a bit of a hidden gem in Little Rock. During the summer months a partner and I will travel to various regattas and race what’s called a Y-Flyer. It’s definitely not as glamorous as it sounds!”
