ADHD
ADHD (Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) is a persistent condition usually indicated by continuing patterns of inattention. It can cause uncontrollable hyperactivity that can interfere with daily function or development. It is often most identified during childhood, but can also affect adults. ADHD can lead to precarious relationships, poor job or academic performance, low self-esteem, and other issues.
Inattention means being unable to focus on tasks, diminished persistence, trouble staying focused, and being disorganized. It’s important to realize these problems are not the result of intentional misbehavior or lack of intelligence.
Hyperactivity means a person can’t seem to stop moving about constantly, even in situations that might be inappropriate. That might include fidgeting, tapping, or excessive talking. Symptoms like restlessness or exhausting others with constant activity are common with ADHD.
Impulsivity means somebody could be making hasty decisions or taking actions at the moment without considering potential harm. There may be a heightened desire for immediate rewards or being incapable of delaying gratification. A person suffering from ADHD may be socially invasive, frequently interrupting others or they may make big life decisions without considering long-term consequences.
How We Help
At Alleviant Health Centers, we find the root cause of ADHD and provide an opportunity for full emotional healing.
“Our unique and integrative approach to treating adult ADHD combines more traditional medication management with things in the therapeutic realm such as bullet journaling, developing organizational skills, and time management skills, ” Dr. Brent Lawlis, MD, said. “I work to help patients prioritize time – not taking on too much, and learning to focus on one task at a time.”
Unique lifestyle management practices help adults with ADHA focus on their passion.”If you’re not interested then it’s a real challenge to learn the material. People who live with ADHD have the ability to hyperfocus when they’re interested in a subject and that lines up with their passion.”
Lawlis serves are Alleviant Health Center’s Chief Clinical Officer and says the clinic’s integrative physiological approach also addresses diet. “Eating to keep inflammatory markers down in the gut and brain increase clarity of thought, and gluten-free and dairy-free diets help so much,” he said.
Emotional dysregulation other ADHD symptoms benefit from medication management. So does having a structure that makes sense for you keeps you from becoming irritable or having angst. Developing those systems takes work on the front end, and the professionals at Alleviant are ready to help you on your path to healing.
Misperceptions about medications and social stigmas can prevent people from seeking treatment, but Lawlis said “the paradoxical effect on people with ADHD is that psycho-stimulants slow hyperactivity and thought processes, which can be life-changing.”
In our therapy, we combine holistic and integrative medicine, which allows us to provide you with a unique treatment plan based upon your genetics, nutritional status, and biochemical assay. This approach addresses the fundamental source of ADHD and restores your natural state of balance and peace.
“You don’t have to live with this struggle any longer.”

TMS is a non-invasive procedure for treatment-resistant depression. It delivers magnetic impulses through an electromagnetic coil to the prefrontal cortex, the region of the brain associated with mood control.
