Darren Compas graduated from Southeast Missouri State in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of General Studies degree. He then moved to Arkansas to work at St. Vincent Hospital as a cardiovascular nurse, then working in psychiatry.He did hospital inpatient and consults for delirium, dementia, and psychiatric issues for a group of doctors. Darren then went to work for the Department of Geriatrics at UAMS on a consulting team managing medical issues with a special focus on delirium.

While there, he earned his Master’s degree and became board-certified in adult and geriatric primary care. He then worked outside of UAMS for a brief time seeing patients in nursing homes with dementia and mood issues. He then returned to consult on the Department of Psychiatry team at UAMS.
