Miriam Koesy graduated with her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
(UAMS) in Little Rock. She then went on to obtain a Masters of Nursing Science from UAMS as well. During graduate school,
She worked as an RN in the psychiatric inpatient setting treating the lifespan. After graduate school, Miriam worked as
a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner treating a wide variety of patients: children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics
and substance abuse both in acute and residential settings. Miriam’s approach is holistic, treating the patient not only
with medications but providing other interventions to improve quality of life. Miriam’s favorite thing to do is teach patients.
Providing knowledge to the patient regarding disorders and interventions allows the patient to be active in their treatment
and creates a more cohesive treatment team. One of her main goals is for the patient to feel empowered and motivated.
