POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION (PPD)
Postpartum depression is moderate to severe depression in a woman after she has given birth. It may occur soon after delivery or up to a year later. Most of the time, it occurs within the first three months after delivery.
The exact causes of postpartum depression are unknown, but some non-hormonal factors that can affect mood during this period are changes in your body from pregnancy and delivery, changes in work and social relationships, having less time and freedom for yourself, lack of sleep, and worries about your ability to be a good mother.
How We Help
Postpartum depression (PPD) is thought to be a combination of both physical and emotional issues.
Significant alterations in hormones occur after birth. Specifically, estrogen, progesterone, and thyroid hormones decrease dramatically. This may lead to physical symptoms of brain fog, fatigue or exhaustion, despondence, sleep disturbances, hopelessness, severe mood swings, social withdraw, and depression. Emotional issues may arise from sleep deprivation, poor nutrition, feeling less attractive, loss of control, loss of identity, and anxiety. Any of these issues may contribute to PPD.
Depression results in physical changes in the structure and function of the brain, and the longer you suffer the more damage results. Therefore, recognizing the signs and symptoms of PPD and getting help fast is critical to rapid improvement. The wonderful thing is that it is frequently much easier to treat postpartum depression than life-long depression of unknown origin.

Ketamine Infusion Therapy
Ketamine Infusion Therapy can provide rapid relief from depressive symptoms for a significant number of patients. In controlled, specific amounts, ketamine stimulates the creation and remodeling of neurons that have atrophied in depression. Approximately 70% of patients may experience a significant reduction in symptoms – many during their first infusion, which creates an excellent opportunity for rapid healing of emotional trauma with a therapist post infusion.
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation
TMS is a non-invasive procedure for treatment-resistant depression. It delivers magnetic impulses through an electromagnetic coil to the prefrontal cortex, the region of the brain associated with mood control. TMS helps nerves begin to communicate again and reinforces positive nerve pathways. Therapy takes place five days a week for four to six weeks. Each treatment lasts less than 4 minutes. TMS is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression. We will preauthorize you to make sure that your insurance is accepted.
