Comprehensive Psychiatry

Our therapists offer hour-long therapy sessions for patients who wish to release depression, make changes in their behavior, heal broken relationships, and process trauma. We used research-based regimens such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and some of our therapists and counselors also offer life coaching, substance abuse and addiction recovery, marriage counseling, family therapy, and more.

Medication Management

Medication management appointments are a chance for providers and patients to discuss medication use and efficacy so that the provider can adjust or change doses as needed and refill prescriptions. These sessions are conducted by a psychiatric nurse practitioner or a psychiatrist.

Ketamine Therapy

Ketamine therapy is an effective treatment for mood disorders and certain pain conditions. Approximately 70% of patients experience a significant reduction in symptoms – many during the first treatment. Ketamine therapy is administered intravenously, intramuscularly, or nasally. IV administration is preferable and is administered over 1-4 hours up to 10 times within a 3-week period.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

TMS is a non-invasive procedure for treatment-resistant depression. It delivers magnetic impulses through an electromagnetic coil to the prefrontal cortex, the region of the brain associated with mood control. TMS helps nerves begin to communicate again and reinforces positive nerve pathways. Therapy takes place five days a week for four to six weeks. Each treatment lasts less than 4 minutes. TMS is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression. We preauthorize patients to make sure that their insurance is accepted.

GeneSight® Testing

If you have been diagnosed with depression and failed at least one medication, we perform a pharmacogenomic test that analyzes how your DNA may affect your response to depression medications. The results of the test help us prescribe a more genetically optimal medication and avoid medications that may cause side effects or be less likely to work.

Telepsychiatry

Many patients live very busy lives not allowing them to see their psychiatric provider when needed. Our telepsychiatric services allow for remote appointments with our providers including psychiatric evaluations, talk therapy and medication management appointments. These appointments can be facilitated through desktop computer or a mobile app, allowing our patients to have very simple access to care.

David Haas, M.D. is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist with over 30 years of clinical experience. He specializes in adult psychiatry, anti-aging and regenerative medicine, child psychiatry, and integrative medicine. Born in Sikeston, Missouri, Dr. Haas received his Bachelor of Science from Kentucky State University and his Doctor of Medicine from Louisville Medical School.

Dr. Alicia Baros has joined Alleviant Health Centers as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She earned a doctorate in pharmacology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, Tennessee, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in research addiction medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina where she was appointed Research Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.

Darren Compas graduated from Southeast Missouri State in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of General Studies degree. He then moved to Arkansas to work at St. Vincent Hospital as a cardiovascular nurse, then working in psychiatry. He did hospital inpatient and consults for delirium, dementia and psychiatric issues for a group of doctors.

Michelle Head is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She has diverse experience in mental health, and is always looking to better her practice through implementing new research. For the bulk of her career, Michelle has worked in a trauma ICU step down unit, where she became increasingly interested in mental health after gaining insight into the pharmacological treatments for those on the unit.

Chloe (Cyd) Ward is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She has provided clinical services for adults with serious mental illnesses as well as for individuals with traumatic stressors or difficulty managing anxiety and depression. She understands that being diagnosed with a serious mental illness doesn’t have to define you, but rather is just one component of who you are.

Jennifer Rawls is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She provides diagnosis and treatment for a variety of mental health conditions across the lifespan, including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, insomnia, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. She offers medication management and psychotherapy with a collaborative, holistic, and evidence-based approach.

Adrianne Funmaker is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She comes to Alleviant with a dual board certification of Psychiatric Mental Health and Pediatric Acute Care. She has 12 years of clinical experience in nursing, six spent as a Nurse Practitioner at Arkansas Children’s Hospital. She specialized in Neurology with an emphasis on building a Tourette’s clinic complete with a certification in Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Tourette’s (CBIT), treating headaches, epilepsy, and cerebral palsy.

Andrew Roach, a native of Monroe, Louisiana, has been a clinician in Arkansas since 1994. He has 25 years of experience working with the chronic mentally ill in both the inpatient and outpatient setting and has been in private practice for nine years, serving community members of Central Arkansas.

Depression

Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and apathy. It affects how you feel, think, and behave and can lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems.

Postpartum Depression

Postpartum depression is moderate to severe depression in a woman after she has given birth. It may occur soon after delivery or up to a year later. Most of the time, it occurs within the first three months after delivery.

PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a psychological reaction occurring after experiencing a highly stressful event (such as wartime combat, physical violence, or a natural disaster) that is usually characterized by depression, anxiety, flashbacks, recurrent nightmares, and avoidance of reminders of the event.

Anxiety

Anxiety is a persistent feeling of apprehension and fear, characterized by physical symptoms such as palpitations, sweating, and feelings of stress. Anxiety disorders are a group of mental illnesses including panic disorder, social anxiety disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder sometimes called manic-depression which involves cycles of depression and elation or mania. It is characterized by unpredictable changes in mood and impaired social function.

OCD

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is an anxiety disorder characterized by recurrent obsessions or compulsions or both that cause significant distress, are time-consuming or interfere with normal daily functioning, and are recognized by the individual affected as excessive or unreasonable.

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread pain, tenderness, and stiffness of muscles and associated connective tissue structures that is typically accompanied by fatigue, headache, and sleep disturbances.

Migraine Headaches

Migraine headaches are recurring headaches characterized by severe throbbing pain, dizziness, and light and sound sensitivity during the acute phase. The disorder occurs more frequently in women than men, and a predisposition to migraine may be inherited.

CRPS

CRPS a condition of unknown pathogenesis that causes chronic pain in part or all of the arms and legs. It is characterized by severe and often burning pain. CRPS is often accompanied by swelling, skin discoloration, abnormal sweating, and impaired motor function in the affected area.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease characterized by chronic inflammation of joints. Rheumatoid disease can also involve inflammation of tissues in other areas of the body, such as the lungs, heart, and eyes.

Peripheral Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is a disease or degenerative state of the peripheral nerves in which motor, sensory, or vasomotor nerve fibers may be affected and which is marked by muscle weakness and atrophy, pain, and numbness.

Sciatica

Sciatica refers to pain or discomfort associated with the sciatic nerve. This nerve runs from the lower part of the spinal cord, down the back of the leg, and to the foot. Injury to or pressure on the sciatic nerve can cause the characteristic pain of sciatica: a sharp or burning pain that radiates from the lower back or hip, possibly following the path of the sciatic nerve to the foot.
